"Stay hungry. Stay foolish." - Steve Jobs

Hi there. My name is Nic Lake. Please don’t call me Mr. Lake, I feel old enough as it is.
I am a spring 2012 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa‘s Management Informations Systems program. I’ve also dabbled in the areas of music education, computer science, religion and graphic design. I am a .NET software developer for a credit union financial services company.
I’ve been an accomplished musician since age 4, playing piano, percussion, bass, and guitar. Injuries and surgery have hampered my career, but I still continue to shred on the 6-string to this day. I don’t sing, unless you’re a pretty lady I’m dating. I’m an eclectic musician, and play and listen to everything from classical, blues and jazz up through rock, metal and screamo. You can see pictures and a list of my equipment here.
I have an itch that can only be scratched by sports. I love my Red Sox, Blackhawks, Vikings, Celtics, Iowa Hawkeyes and Northern Iowa Panthers. While I can admire the accomplishments of a Yankees player, I can’t stand the team itself.
I love technology. I’m a staunch Apple supporter. Photography is a hobby that I never have the time or money for. I have a knack for finding your spelling errors (and you should hire me as a proofreader). I am a bit of a prat. I’m a coffee snob, and enjoy Arnold Palmers, TOMS shoes and Moleskine notebooks. I’m an ENFP. My strengths are Strategic, Adaptability, Futuristic, Empathy, and Communication. Sarcasm is my native language. Reading is my favorite pastime. Writing is therapy for me. I have a terrible habit of using ellipses and parentheses when I write. I have a strong passion for quality conversations and the well-being of those I care about. I am not responsible for your lack of a sense of humor.
For those interested in hiring me, here is my résumé.
